Preschool Ministry
The mission of the Sevier Heights Preschool Ministry is two-fold: to provide safe, secure, loving care while parents attend to their own spiritual needs and to lay strong foundations in our preschoolers for a lifelong love of Jesus and His Church. We believe learning begins at birth. For this reason, we begin teaching about the love of God in even the youngest classrooms. As a child grows, teachers build upon each precept. Our hope is by the time a child reaches first grade, we will have laid a firm foundation for a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. A variety of ministries are available for preschool children every time our doors are open. We welcome you and your children to Sevier Heights.
Through Christ-centered Bible curriculum, we prayerfully strive to meet our mission by setting the cornerstones of each child’s spiritual foundation:
God and me: He made me and He loves me. Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them..."
Jesus and me: friends forever. Matthew 19:14 "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'"
Others and me: love, light, service. Galatians 5:14 "The entire law is summed up in a single command: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Upon your first visit with us, please take a moment to register your children at the Preschool Welcome Desk. Welcome Desk hosts and hostesses will register your children, assign them to classrooms, issue security tags, and answer any questions you may have. To find the Preschool Department, enter through the main doors at the front of the church and turn right. Follow the hallway all the way to the end, and you will be at the Preschool Welcome Desk.
Safety and Security
The safety and security of your children are of the utmost concern to us. We take several steps to see that your children are safe. Each person who works in our department must complete an application, complete with references, and submit to a criminal background check. We carefully screen each individual, and those new individuals are always placed with a well known and experienced teacher. Each room has glass doors and/or windows so that all activities are open to public view. We use a two-tag security system. Each child will receive a numbered name tag. Parents receive a tag with a matching number which MUST be returned in order to pick up the child. For security purposes, only the double doors near the Preschool Welcome Desk may be used to access the Preschool area. All other doors are for “Exit Only.” In this way, we are able to monitor all who enter the area. Each of our staff and volunteers are trained in child safety, and strive to maintain a safe environment for your children.
