How is Sevier Heights responding to COVID-19?

Hi again SH Family,
While we haven’t been able to see each other face-to-face, we have seen Jesus use your generosity, your prayers and your service to continue loving our city well during this season.
God has smiled on Sevier Heights in countless ways in recent years, and as our church has grown, so has our ability to impact our community through offering help to hospitals, schools and Knox Area Rescue Mission. And while the size of our church family is a tremendous blessing, it also presents unique challenges as it relates to safely and responsibly resuming in-person services.
A couple weeks ago, we talked about the constant tension between our desire to be together and our responsibility to exercise caution. That tension is still there. As Tennessee continues re-opening, we know so many of you have questions regarding our gatherings, so we wanted to offer some guidance and encouragement.
Our plan for the remainder of May is to keep utilizing our online platforms to come together. Some may read that sentence with disappointment, others with relief – we’re taking both into account as we continue looking ahead. No one wants to be back together more than us – but protecting you, your family and our city from risk will continue to help shape our decision.
We’re communicating with government authorities and medical professionals to ensure we’re ready to address the complexity involved in opening a church of our size. We’ll take next steps when we can offer the safest possible gathering for everyone.
Some of you need help, need prayer and some of you want to help – if that’s you, go over to sevierheights.org and let us know so one of us can reach out to talk with you.
Our slowness to gather again is simply a way to communicate how much we love you. We can’t wait to see you again.
To ensure our church families stay safe, we won’t be offering our traditional Vacation Bible School and Student Summer Camp experiences. This has not been an easy decision, but after much prayer and discussion, we believe it is the right thing to do. If you have already made a deposit for Student Summer Camp, expect our staff to reach out to you soon.
We are in this together as we are exploring every option to create meaningful experiences for you and your family in the near future. Keep following us on social media and checking your email for the latest updates.
